as I sit with arms abreast
longing for our limbs to mesh
counting sins upon my chest
salts my ever wounded flesh

as I sit with chin upheld
aching for your tender kiss
strangely ever so compelled
to deny it’s you I miss

as I sit with spine upright
yearning for your saving arms
slowly now I lose the fight
and succumb to toxic charms

as I sit with eyes withdrawn
gazing upon truths within
knowing I am but a pawn
yet indulging in this sin

as I sit with feet unsure
stumbling for a means to stand
on foundations so impure
lend me now your steady hand
