Uproot

uproot this concrete coffer
break my sepulcher of stone
for all this tomb can offer
is a crowded life alone

uproot this concrete city
shake my habitat of haste
for progress is a pity
when a soul is left to waste

uproot this pavement prison
and release me from my cell
for feelings that have risen
are entrapped by those that fell

uproot this pavement parlor
of lost alabaster dreams
for underneath the squalor
are my perforated seams

uproot my sense of center
unravel every thread
for all the thoughts that enter
will never leave my head

uproot my sense of sorrow
and unchain my soul at last
lest visions of tomorrow
only replicate the past

uproot my burning unrest
uproot everything you see
for I need not a forest
but a single branching tree.
